Animal cruelty takes different forms.
An estimated 10 million dogs and 4 million cats are slaughtered every year alone. Dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes, many of them still household pets wearing collars, are snatched off the streets and forced into tiny cages.
Regardless, the facts and statistics of animal abuse continue to rise. Dogs account for 65% of all animals that are abused.
- More than 5 million puppies and kittens are bred for profit in inhumane conditions, spreading disease and often causing death.

This is definitely not the way to treat one of people's best friends.
Despite being the world's most popular animals, dogs and cats are also the most likely to become victims of cruelty at the hands of callous owners and breeders. Sadly, they are not alone, and many other animal species suffer in the same way.
By the time you read this, 100 animals have been abused, and some may even die from torture and neglect.
Animal abuse occurs in many different ways. We often focus on statistics about animal abuse and human violence in large organizations such as factory farming, but often turn a blind eye to domestic violence that can have equally devastating consequences for pets.
Our foundation is helping dogs and cats
Over the past two years, our foundation has investigated and reported 1,039 dog and cat meat restaurants in 468 cities across. As a result, more than 100 restaurants have been ordered to stop selling dog meat or closed down for operating illegally. These small victories quickly save thousands of dogs and cats from being so cruelly captured and killed.
We also help rescue abused dogs and cats and prevent the dog and cat meat trade, like this dog rescued from dog thieves.
